Day 3
Honor God and God will Honor You
“But now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour,” 1 Samuel 2:30b
Our first introduction to the word “honor“ should be a memorable one. The Hebrew language is visual, with subtle meanings and profound undertones attached to nearly every word. For example, “honor“ (ka-vad’) speaks of something that is weighty, heavy, important, or plentiful.
In 1 Samuel 2, a man of God was sent to tell Eli that he had placed more honor on defending his rebellious adult sons, attaining personal wealth, and basking in his political power than on the Lord. He added a chilling comment, ”They that despise me (consider me worthless) shall be lightly esteemed (held in contempt and dishonor)” (2:30c--throughout this book, comments in parenthesis are that of the author).
Two principles quickly emerge: (1) When the Lord tips the scales of our decisions, is given unrivaled priority, and receives large doses of admiration and attention, we can be assured that He will place the same importance, energy, and attention on our lives. (2) On the other hand, if we treat Him as though He isn’t worthy of our time, energy, resources, or attention, we will be equally unimportant to Him (“lightly esteemed“).
The Badge of Honor: Those who Just Honor God find rest and confidence that He exchanges extreme honor for extreme honor.

He Stood in the
Gap for You!

Do you believe that you have sinned and are, therefore, a sinner?
"For all have sinned, and come short
of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)
Do you believe that your sinfulness will send you to Hell?
"For the wages of sin is death"
(Romans 6:23a)
Do you believe that Jesus died on he cross for your sins?
"Who His own self bore our sins in His own
body on the tree" (1 Peter 2:24a)
Do you believe that Jesus rose from the dead?
"the Christ died for our sins according to
the Scriptures; and that He was buried,
and that He rose again" (1 Cor 15:3b,4a)
Do you believe that Jesus
forgives sin?
Jesus said, "For this is my blood of
the new testament, which is shed for
many for the remission of sins"
(Matthew 26:28)
Do you believe that Jesus
will forgive your sins if
you ask Him to?
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and
just to forgive us our sinsm and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9)
Now here's the big question:
Will you ask Jesus to
forgive you of your sin?
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and believe in thine heart
that God hath raised Him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved" Romans 10:9)
If your answer is "No,"
then I must ask you:
"What is worth
going to Hell over?"
If your answer is "Yes,"
then I want to encourage you
to pray a simple prayer
asking Him to forgive you
of your sin and
make you a child
of God.
I also want to encourage you
to send Pastor Rick
an email today
telling him of
your decision.
